Details:
Mars shines above the steeple of the historic McDougall Church, built in 1875. I took the opportunity on Wednesday night, May 14, Full Moon night, to set up time-lapse camera rigs at the pioneer McDougall Church west of Calgary in the foothills. Built by Rev. George McDougall to minister to the local Cree people, the little wood church still stands on the banks of the Bow River as one of the few surviving pioneer buildings still in place from the first days of European settlement in southern Alberta. Above the church is Mars, while the bright Full Moon shines in clouds low in the south.
