Details:
Mars is amazingly bright during opposition given its still somewhat small small apparent size. It's quite striking in appearance to the unaided eye with its distinctive coppery orange/pink/salmon color as it shines steadily in the sky. Given the popularity of Internet hoaxes about Mars over the past few years, I thought it would be instructive to post a photomontage of two photos taken last night showing the the relative sizes of Mars and the moon.
