Hi Lossy, I am also just taking images of the Sun with a Camera and 100-400mm lens with a 2x converter…this is mainly because its quick and easier than setting up the telescope with my very limited time and space.

If you set your camera on a tripod with a cable release (so your not touching it) then set the camera for a quick burst of shots, you may get some nice images in focus amongst them for a single image.

You could also download a free bit of stacking software called RegiStax6 and load your best images into it so it stacks them (this gives you a lot more detail in your image). Also when you come to process the image don’t use too much contrast…just do a little levels and curves bit by bit until it brings out the sunspots.

I am by no means an expert at all, but just try it and see if it helps…good luck, Noeleen :-)
