What is this red stuff showing up in my photos? Red airglow? Auroral glow? There is a geomagnetic storm in progress.
The shot is from the summit of Mauna Kea looking south! Also visible is the glow of the lava lake at Halemaʻumaʻu and a research laser shining up from the NOAA atmospheric lab atop Mauna Loa. Canon 6D and 14mm f/2.8 lens, 30s at ISO 6400.
