Details:
Was shooting the colorful sunset from the roof of a highrise apartment building on the west side of Manhattan, view towards northern New Jersey. This is a cropped version of an image of the sun on the horizon, a series on sunspots visible stretching across the solar equator. I compared the image to the one taken by HMI/SDO on your site to confirm that those were sunspots. Nikon D800 camera, 300mm f4 lens, tripod. 1/400 sec, F8
