I saw this from Lowes parking lot. Ive seen a lot of Sunsets in my 49 years, but NEVER anything like this. I am wondering if it is a result of the Radiation streaming out from Japan. ??

Hi Peggy, you can calm down its not radiation from Japan - its from the lawn & garden departments nuclear snowblowers. - NO, JUST KIDDING!!! If you go to the Spaceweather home page and scroll almost to the bottom you will find a list of LINKS. One of those is for Atmospheric Optics. You will find out all about sun pillars. Also, other sun pillar/light pillar photos are posted here at spaceweathers gallery.
