While not a beautiful or technically solid photo, I like this image for what you're able to see that is not normally visible to the naked eye. I captured this image of the sun as a series of clouds passed in front of it. Under cloak of said clouds, I was safely able to get a reasonably nice shot of el Sol, although a tripod would have yielded much better results. A series of sunspots are visible, the largest of which is AR1944 appearing at about 3:30 on the disc. It is from this sunspot a few days ago that a monster earth-facing coronal mass ejection (CME) got our collective hopes up for northern lights, but they were a no show.
