Details:
After a short look at the departing sunspot group AR 1944, I started to look for Venus through my C11 telescope. After about 5 minutes, the very thin but very large crescent suddenly appeared into the field of view. It was surreal to watch the boiling atmospheric arc of the planet just above the Sun in plain day. My wife immortalized the moment by taking a panoramic view from our clear-skies location. Equipment: C11 telescope at F/10, ASI120MM camera with IR filter. 3000 frames in bad seeing conditions. Date and hour: January 11, 2013, 11:33 U.T.

Great shot, may I say historic. I always wanted to spot Venus on the day of inferior conjuction but due to wet weather will need to wait probably until March 2017.

Thank you MikiBee. There will be other opportunities, rest for sure. Actually this is my first inferior conjunction observation in 17 years of watching the skies. At some previous such events I always had either bad weather or it was simply to risky to try and observe it.

Felicitări, Max și Eliza! Excelentă și curajoasă captură! Cred că ați fost pe deal către Mănăstirea Dealu.

Thank you LandyGyebnar! We were very lucky in observing the planet due to very clear skies and good transparency, despite some poor seeing. It was a memorable day for us.

Multumim Vali! Da acolo am fost, ceva mai la est insa, dincolo de proaspetele constructii neterminate din varf. E un drum mai greu accesibil in care nu multa lume merge, si are si priveliste.

Brilliant photography ! What a stunning obervation! Thank you ever so much for sharing this momentous occasion! I dont know how often Venus is far enough from the sun during conjunction to enable it to be observed, but the photographs you have taken are truly amazing! Well done!
