george and i had a night off here at in tromsø ,we have been very busy with the guests right into the new year here at www.chasethelighttours.co.uk and guess what real aurora hunters do in there night off. Yes they go aurora hunting ,straight after the cme hit earth at 15.00 ut we couldn't wait to see the results. Here in tromsø we started looking for any signs of the impact, immediately, but it was so cloudy that this seemed impossible,so we travelled a 50 klm radius of the troms area to no avail, then suddenly at 22.51 the clouds opened up at Ersfjordbotn and revealed a small amount of dancing aurora ,it danced for 15 mins or more then disappeared as the sky completely clouded over. We headed south west to sommarøy to try and find any more gaps in the sky by now totally grey ,then south under the Rya tunnel to Storsteinnes then to Nordkjosbotn then a complete circle back to Tromsø arriving back at 630 am with still no sign of any more clear skies to view the aurora, well we missed an impact on the 7 th,but the weather looks great for the next few days and there looks as though theres so much ready too happen with in in coming solar wind and expected x1 cme from big old sunspot 1944, guess what we are ready. Happy new year to all space weather readers
