Another great night in Abisko!! Tonight our group of ten Aurora Photo Expedition participants and a National Geographic Student Expedition leader were treated to one of the best displays of natural beauty I have ever seen! The auroras started as three large bands running across the northern portion of the sky and developed into a fast moving spiral that covered the entire sky. I saw one young lady cry and I had the pleasure of hearing a grown man say that this was the most amazing thing he had ever seen. If tonight was any indication of what the next few days have in store I believe that January 2014 will be remembered as the true peak of the solar maximum. What a night!!! Shot with a Nikon D600, D800 and various lenses. We will post a time-lapse video of the entire display on our Faebook page soon.
