Details:
Auroral activity may be lacking but the cold weather has still brought us something to look at on a cold night. Sometimes mistaken for an aurora, light pillars which are caused by light being reflected off of ice crystals in the air give us something else to look at if we are willing to brave the bitter cold to see them.
In this case the light pillars were coming from the Wolf Creek Nuclear Station in the background behind the barn. The steam coming from the lake helped add to the shot.
