Details:
I took this series of images from here in New Zealand of a solar flare producing a massive filament on Dec 31st. My sequence started at 22:06UT and the finished at 22:11UT. It would have been one of the most spectacular and fast moving filament that I have seen. This flare was detected at 21:58UT by the NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory. The massive filament associated with the flare appears to have lasted for about 13 minutes. George
