it looks like a plane contrail.

its very common to see this kind of phenomena during the dawn or dusk. I also already observed several, the nature could be uncertain but in every case it is quite sure that its source is inside the earth atmosfphere and not outside.
By looking and reading the articles of spaceweather every amateur astronomer could learn that if a comet reaches magnitude like this (-4 and above) It would already well known to everybody so it cant absolutely be that a single person see a -4 magnitude comet. Lovejoy have +4 magnitude so it cant appear so bright

It set with the sun. I.E. it was celestial. And I saw it in a similiar position the following night. Tonight will be cloudy. I understand this would have been observed by now; I am a scientist (howerver on the molecular level). But we have 4 witnesses two nights in a row. Also analyzing the pictures by changing different parameters extends the tail exactly away from the sun.

My mother and aunt who lives in south of France told me the other day, that they saw something in the sky around 5 in the evening. She asked me if it was the comet ISON. I then send her :

And asked her if it was what they saw... They both answered that it was that... I told them that it was most probably a plane...

Now I see this one. Im in the country near Montréal. Ill try to watch for this tonight.

I dont thing that saying what is not, is the good methodology...

Look like the same thing Comar! I followed that thing right down to the tree line with binoculars. Never lost brightness. Never changed shape. How can that be a contrail?

Please, submit this kind of stuff on U.F.O. specialized sites, this is not the right place to try to understand what they are.
Whatever they could be, they arent astronomical object becase its easy to see that they are not behind the clouds

Yep it was behind the clouds

Saw something similar here in southern Nova Scotia on the 7th about 30 mins before sunset.Unfortunately, didnt have a camera with me at the time.

It is not easy to see if this is or not behind the clouds. Neither this image or the others showing something that looks the same to the observers. MaRVel, you react as if you where sure but your reaction looks like a bet to me, not a scientific conclusion. This is an interresting image for THIS gallery, since nobody can prove that it is *inside* the atmosphère and that the observer himself is saying that this stuff set with the sun...

The second night I saw it, clouds passed over it. I was driving back from Bangor Maine with no camera. With sharp binocular vision the object appeared to have a long tail. Just wish skies would clear again.

I meant clouds obscured my view of this object
