Details:
Drove W / NW to get out of the light pollution from the Detroit metro area for about an hour after getting the alerts from NOAA. I went to a state park on a small lake near Jackson, Michigan the name of the lake and small village on the north shore is Portage Lake. I got there about 10:45 PM on 12/7/2013 and could see the aurora on the horizon to the NW the temp. was about 9 degrees I think that is the coldest we've had in SE Michigan this year. The reflections of the aurora and village lights on the icy lake made for a nice addition to my shots. Canon 5D Mark III - ISO 1250, 20s at f3.2 the time was actually 11:58 PM on 12/7/2013 however my exif info is wrong I forgot to reset the time for daylight savings.
