Details:
Picked up C/2012 S1 ISON before dawn after 07.00 UT this morning to the lower right of Mercury using a telephoto lens. I was delighted to have picked it up so easily considering how bright the twilight sky was before sunrise. The image even shows a clear tail to the upper right and sharing the same field with an early morning passenger plane. I glimpsed the comet with the naked eye using averted vision and suspect its magnitude is easily in the low +3 range, ISON looks very promising indeed. C/203 R1 Lovejoy was seen with the naked eye with 2 degrees naked eye tail and I spotted it without knowing there to look first, nice comet! ISON = 400mm ISO800 Lovejoy = 50mm F/2.0 ISO1600
