Details:
The comet was only about 10 degrees above the horizon when this was taken. A thin bank of cirrus clouds was lying in the same part of the sky, but made for an interesting color affect. They were being reddened by the Sun, still about an hour from rising. What is surprising is that the comet was so prominent, given that the image was acquired 40 minutes after the start of astronomical dawn, there was a nearly full Moon still up, and there were the cirrus clouds! All this, and the comet still showed up nicely in just a 5-second exposure! This image was taken with a Canon 60Da and 200mm telephoto lens at F4. The camera was on an Ioptron StarTracker platform. It is a 5-second exposure at ISO1600.
