375 days after I first posted about ISON on my Facebook wall I am very happy this morning I made my first observation of the comet! It is my 11th comet, and also the first time I have had an observing session with 2 comets visible (the other being C/2013 R1 Lovejoy) I attempted to spot 2 others as well but I blanked with those. It also means my first cometary hat-trick in a single year, with Pan STARRS back in March and April, then Lovejoy earlier this month. Even though it is starting to brighten I think it is going to get tricky to see soon as it heads into the dawn twilight. Fingers crossed it survives its close encounter with the sun and reappears as a nice bright comet! Photo details camera -Canon Powershot A630 ISO 400 F stop F/3.5 Exposure time 13 seconds
