Details:
I walked out on my deck last week and saw this beautiful sunbow almost directly overhead. But it seems wrong, as the position of sun (Mid afternoon) is to the right and down, thus "outside" the arc of the sunbow. ?????

This would be from part of a Halo also known as a nimbus, icebow or gloriole its caused from the Sun or the Moons light and ice crystals

Perhaps its a circumzenithal arc. See this web page:
