A Blast from the Past. This image is a sequence of Sunspots from the week of October 22 through October 30, 2003. Exactly 10 years ago. These Sunspots (Active Regions 484 thru 489) produced some of the biggest X-class solar flares ever recorded. Will this week 10 years later be a repeat of the same? I hope so. A couple of images during that week 10 years ago are not in this sequence because a fire storm was burning out of control in our area at the time. As you can see one of the suns is more orange than the other from the smoke. Falling ash prevented a couple of days of photo taking. These are single shot images taken with a Canon G2 mounted to a Meade 8 inch LX10.
