Details:
Although faint, Comet ISON is easy to locate with a telescope because of its close proximity to the planet Mars. This image is a 103-second exposure with a Nikon D700 digital camera at ISO 6400 and a 300mm Nikkor lens at f8.0, taken at 5:22am MDT on October 7, 2013 from Stagecoach, Colorado, USA. Comet ISON is approximately 1ยบ 47' from Mars on the image. The bright star at the 2 o'clock position from Comet ISON has a magnitude of 9.68.
