Details:
At around 10:00pm EDT I couldn't see any activity in the sky at all, but a little before 11:00pm the show had started and I was out there capturing my first auroras of the fall season. It started out mostly in the north, but it didn't take long to build up to a full fledged event, with lots of color and making so much light across the whole sky that it was almost as if the moon were shining. I never went home until about 5:30am, and by then the activity had gone back to mainly in the north. Shot with Pentax K-5 with Pentax 10-17mm fisheye lens, set to 10mm, f/3.5. ISO 3200. Exposures here are from 4 seconds to 10 seconds. This was well worth losing a little sleep to see and capture. Came home tired with over 600 shots to dig through.
