You know it's a really good storm chase when you want to break the day into chapters.
Earlier tonight north of Flagstaff, looking at a cluster of storms that was south of Payson, 100 miles away. I had started a 40 minute time lapse to catch the Milky way swinging around over the flickering storms. About 20 minutes in, a quick spoke of light flashed about 30 degrees above the storms. I mentally tagged that it looked like it pointed into a pair of bright stars on the east edge of Capricornus. And then a big test of patience for another 20 minutes waiting for the time lapse to wrap up.
And finally, reviewing the images, there it was, pointing at those two stars. So, 100 miles away works pretty well if anvils & debris clouds aren't in the way. Lots more detail on this than others that have been 2-3 times further away.
