Details:
21-minute timelapse of Venus and Spica setting together. Their separation has widened to 4°50' tonight (Sep 7) from 1.5° on Sep 1st. Labelled and unlabelled versions. The third photo is a single view of the two amidst sunset-lit clouds taken a few minutes earlier.
At the start time of the timelapse (8:50pm MDT) Venus is 5.5° above a theoretically flat horizon and dropping by 0.5° per day. At that time and with that rate, by Sep 17th it will have set for good for the current evening apparition. So if you want one last look at Venus before its evening apparition ends, do it now!
