NGC 6946, commonly called the Fireworks Galaxy, is a face-on intermediate spiral galaxy located roughly 25.2 million light-years from Earth on the border of the constellations Cepheus and Cygnus. It is famous for its exceptionally high rate of star formation and frequent stellar explosions.
