This Gigantic Jet Lightning event Photbombed my Perseid meteor recording session on Agust 13 2026 at 1:36am local time (5:36 UTC). A fellow storm chaser and friend of mine, Paul Smith, pointed out to me that there is a sprite right next to the top of the GJ. I thought it was just a part of the GJ branching outwards. This explains why I found a -144 KA stroke associated with this event in the Vaisala Xweather Lightning data. I've known for many years now that GJs do not have a CG stroke associated with them so that is why I found this to be odd. I remember that Oscar van der Velde had also noticed a sprite next to one of Paul's GJ events. It is rare just to capture a GJ event but to also have a sprite trigger at the same time is even more rare. If my viewing angle was different, I would have not seen that sprite at all. 4K video can be seen at: https://youtu.be/Nz0UVOeIItg?si=gD1yBApW3DnHHaVY
