Details:

This asteroid follows an elliptical orbit through the main asteroid belt that reaches perihelion just outside the Kirkwood gap at 2.5 AU. Its estimated diameter is 73 km, and it is one of the 500 largest asteroids. It was discovered by Max Wolf in 1915, at the University of Heidelberg. The planet is named after Hormuth Kopff, the wife of astronomer August Kopff.

Maximilian Franz Joseph Cornelius Wolf (1863-1932) was the chairman of astronomy at the University of Heidelberg and director of the Heidelberg-Königstuhl State Observatory from 1902 until his death. ( He also studied 2 years in Stockholm Sweden. )

In 1891, he discovered his first asteroid, 323 Brucia, and named it after Catherine Wolfe Bruce.
He pioneered the use of astrophotographic techniques to automate the discovery of asteroids. In time-exposure photographs, asteroids appear as short streaks and he discovered 248 asteroids.
He also discovered several comets, including 14P/Wolf and 43P/Wolf-Harrington.
He won a competition with E. E. Barnard on who would be the first to observe the return of Halley's Comet (P1/Halley) in April 1910.
He discovered Nova Aquilae 1927 and 4 supernovae: SN 1895A, SN 1909A, SN 1920A and with Reinmuth, SN 1926A.
