"Extremely Bright Meteor Coming Right at Me" August 8, 2026 Albany, Missouri This was a first for me in my 45 years of meteor watching. My Missouri Skies Meteor/Aurora cameras caught an extremely bright meteor that was coming right at my location. At first, while reviewing the night's footage, I thought it was an extraordinarily bright satellite flash, but I went on the American Meteor Society web page and found other reports of a meteor at the same time. Notice how the meteor doesn't appear to be moving in any direction except straight at the camera. This was not associated with the upcoming Perseid meteor shower. It was also not the only bright meteor for the night. More to come. See this YouTube video for multiple views of this remarkable event: https://youtu.be/Oi84H9gwgRY See less
