On August 5 G. Pappa of Italy reported on the COBs site and the m1-Comet site that Comet 220P/McNaught had another eruption and was magnitude 7, evidently the comet had increased in brightness by about 650 times from August 4 when G. Pappa had reported the comet at magnitude 14.0 on the COBs site. These images are from a single 10 second image taken after the clouds had cleared just as twilight was brightening on the morning of August 6 with the 45% illuminated Moon just 14 degrees to the northeast of the comet. The magnitude of the comet was calculated at 7.0 with a yellowish-orange coma 5 arc minutes wide and a very short tail extending to the right of the comet coma. At the end of May Comet 220P had a bigger eruption when it increased in brightness by about 7000 times.
