This is an animation of the photosphere showing sunspot 4482 playing at 1800x real time. It looks to me like the penumbra tendrils are being sucked down into the darker umbra. Also, notice the dark patches moving around the solar surface outside the sunspot. It was a cloud free day in the Scottish Highlands so I am not sure where they came from.
