Details:
On June 16, 2026, a remarkable evening gathering of Solar System objects illuminated the western sky above the Argentine Pampas. A delicate waxing crescent Moon appeared just above the horizon beside Mercury. Higher in the sky, Jupiter and brilliant Venus formed a striking planetary alignment, while the open star cluster Messier 44 (the Beehive Cluster) shone nearby. Thin clouds across the sky caused Venus and Jupiter to appear enlarged and surrounded by soft halos, while thicker clouds near the horizon gave the crescent Moon its warm orange color. The image was captured shortly after sunset from rural Santa Fe Province, Argentina, with a traditional windmill silhouetted against the twilight sky.
