Details:
The 1.2 day old Moon (1.6% illuminated) was first spotted in 7x35 binoculars about 20 minutes after sunset, then a couple more minutes to be spotted with the naked eye. It made a hasty retreat to the horizon, setting (behind the mountains) before 10pm MDT. The two photos were taken about 15 minutes apart.

In Act I on Tuesday the Moon features in the triangle formed by Jupiter, Mercury and Pollux. In Act II on Wednesday it joins Venus on either side of the Beehive cluster. Finally on Thursday the Moon lines up between Regulus and Venus where all take a bow along the ecliptic before scattering their separate ways.
