Details:
Last evening planet Jupiter was 3 degrees to the upper left of the brighter planet Venus as observed from my front yard amongst my cacti. The 2 bright stars above and to the right of the planets are Pollux to the left of Castor, the Gemini Twins. Venus was 7 times brighter than Jupiter, 122 times brighter than Pollux and 233 times brighter than Castor on this evening. The 2 planets will be 1.7 to 2 degrees apart on the evenings of Monday June 8, Tuesday June 9 and Wednesday June 10 as seen from Arizona. At 830pm as twilight fades the 2 planets will be 19 degrees above the WNW horizon. At 9pm when it is nice and dark the planets will be 12 degrees above the WNW horizon. The 2 planets set at 10pm. Over these 3 evenings Jupiter will be moving closer to the horizon each evening while Venus will be moving just a little bit higher each evening as they pass each other in a beautiful conjunction.
