On Monday evening (May 8, 2023) at approximately 8:40 p.m., the fire department received an emergency call reporting an apartment fire on Geveker Kamp in Davenstedt. The dispatch center sent two fire engines from the professional fire department as well as the volunteer fire departments of Davenstedt and Badenstedt to the scene. The first responders confirmed the fire, which had broken out in a one-room apartment on the second floor of an apartment building. A mattress was ablaze, but the occupant and other residents were able to escape to safety before the fire department arrived. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and subsequently ventilated the building. There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
