Details:
As the Flower Moon rose in a clear sky over Kent, England on 30 April 2026, I positioned a Newtonian 10-inch mirror telescope with 32mm eye piece horizontal towards the eastern horizon. Inside the eyepiece atmospheric waves made a shimmering effect across the moon surface. I took the photo thinking of the astronauts in Artemis II heading to the moon only a month ago. What surprised me when I enhanced the image was how many craters sparkled like jewels.
