Details:
A surprising spell of clear skies has allowed Londoners some great telescopic opportunities. So I was eager to see if I could spot the reported Supernova in The Knife Edge or Splinter Galaxy (NGC5907). At this time well placed high in the sky in constellation of Draco. It was relatively easy to spot with amateur equipment even though its about 46 million light years distant.. The annotated photo is a close crop of a 25 minute sequence taken with my Unistellar Equinox and the third picture is a 20 minute stacked sequence with the tiny dwarf Mini. This galaxy was discovered by British astronomer Sir William Herschel on May 5th 1788 so it is almost a spectacular birthday candle a few days ahead of its discovery birthday. (Which incidentally is my own less cosmic one)
