Details:
This is the waning last quarter Moon as it was rising amid some cloud on the morning of April 10, 2026, the day the Artemis II crew returned from their journey to the Moon, the first such crewed mission to the Moon since December 1972. The Orion "Integrity" capsule flew around the western (left) limb of the Moon as seen here to view features on the farside of the Moon in sunlight that no human had seen before. Faint Earthshine is visible on the night "dark" side of the Moon. This was at about 5 am MDT this morning. The Moon's low altitude gives it a warm reddish tone which lights up the clouds in that colour. Technical: This is a blend of 6 exposures from 3.2 seconds to 1/10 second, through the Askar APO120 refractor at f/7 for 840mm focal length, with the Canon R5 at ISO 200. Exposures blended with luminosity masks.
