Details:
The day before its close approach to the Sun Comet 88P/Howell was magnitude 9.9 with a coma 2 arc minutes wide. Unfortunately, the comet is in bright twilight morning skies when it rises over the Catalina Mountains which washes out the full extent of the comet's coma and any hints of a tail the comet might have.
