Details:
From Knik River, Alaska, I watched auroras carve patterns of light across the sky for the past two nights. I spent Pi Eve (3•13) staying warm by light writing π. Then today, Pi Day (3•14), the aurora show began with some smooth “calculable” waves then they went hog wild with bizarre shapes that appeared to break the mold! Wow. Apparently, the mathematical constant π is used in all sorts of space weather prediction models making it a very important piece of pi in the sky.
