Details:
Between 10:45pm and 11:15pm, a fast solar wind due to a large coronal hole on the sun flipped the earth's magnetic field to allow the formation of some aurora. There would have been more northern lights but the magnetic field switched back to repulse the solar wind away from the earth. Note the upside down Big Dipper and the Pointer Stars aligning to the North Star at top (below the pergola). This ray extends ~12 degrees above the 3 degree high hill. Used a GoPro 10, Raw format, 1x30s exp. ISO=800. Wide Field. Essentially, straight from the camera.
