Details:
This is the first image I have obtained of comet 24P/Schaumasse during its fifteenth apparition, with an estimated brightness of magnitude 9. I also imaged it during its previous return, eight years ago, when it was a couple of magnitudes fainter. On this occasion, on January 29, 2026, and due to persistent bad weather, I had to rely on a remote telescope to capture it. The image shows a generous coma about 12' in angular size, not very condensed, along with a short dust tail approximately 2.5' long.
