Details:
Night 1 of the CME impact on the 19th despite optimal viewing was an unusual dud in the central US for having a high value positive Bz from sunset onward. It wouldn’t drop into negative until daybreak of the 20th so I (along with everyone else) didn’t exactly score. On the evening of the 20th though it was ongoing but we were now plagued with clouds. A well timed opening between cloud decks at sundown did allow clear view of a brief substorm before the sky closed up again. Canon cameras, ISO 1600, F5.0, 30s
