Details:
I decided to take a chance on the aurora last night -- and was rewarded with a brief appearance between 1920 and 1940 MST (0220-0240 UTC).
These were shot overlooking Ashurst Lake in the Coconino National Forest east of Flagstaff, Arizona at latitude 35.01°N.
Pillars first appeared to the northeast then moved westward. These remained low on the horizon. I have marked Polaris in one image to give a sense of how low they remained. The Milky Way is visible at the top of the image.
Bonus: a meteor (probably a Geminid) streaked across the fading aurora.
