Details:
With the moon only 3 days from being full, 92% lumination all but made imaging tonight difficult despite perfect sky transparency, no winds, and temperatures in the upper 50's. This image used 10 subs at iso 640, exp 40s, 180mm lens @ f/5.6, Astrotrac, and Fujifilm X-T5 (raw format, cropped). Comet Lemmon's motion during the past 2 weeks have slowed against the background stars by nearly half. 2nd image: I fixed the comet using PixInsight, thus the star trails. This is an integration time of ~41 minutes. The blue ion tail is still recorded over 4 degrees while the yellow dust tail is more than 2 degrees. 3rd image: Using 34x40s & 18x60s subs in PixInsight, I reduced most stars to better show the structure of this remarkable comet. Through 7x35mm binoculars, I was able to see about 1.5 degrees of Comet Lemmon. Yesterday with less moonlight, I could measure just over 2.5 degrees in Botle 5 skies.
