Details:
Tonight was finally clear and my intention was to photograph Comet Lemmon. I am not a practiced comet photographer but I have been taking photos of comets since the pre-digital film days. Comet Lemmon tonight was a bit challenging. It moves fast! I used an old iOptron Skytracker mount with a Canon 6D MKII DSLR and a Canon 100-400mm lens set at 400mm to take these photos. The two photos are 15 minutes apart and I was surprised by the movement of the comet in relation to the background stars. The comet photos were photo bombed by aurora and used my Canon 6D with a 20mm Sigma ART lens to take a quick photo of the aurora. There is a green blob which might be a proton aurora blob. The aurora was a very pleasant surprise to add some excitement to the comet in the sky. It's stuff like this that happens in the sky that never ceases to amaze me. The last photo is a higher resolution image where I have indicated the position of the comet. These are the best images that were also not photo bombed by constellation satellites. :-(
