Details:
Comet Lemmon streaks above a grain silo in the dark rural countryside of Bainsville, Ontario, 80 km west of Montreal. I first saw a tiny fuzzy green dot beneath Ursa Major, the Big Dipper. When I attached first my 70-200mm lens, then a 500mm telephoto, Comet Lemmon really popped out, with the hot nuclear center and greenish tail behind it! It was quite the sight! The spectacle didn't last long as the comet slowly descended to the horizon. I was in a Bortle 4.5 zone with first observation at 7:43 PM when the skies were dark enough, with the last view at 8:19 PM EST. The skies were bright with the moon's illumination at 22.1%. I used a high ISO to create short exposures to minimize star trails. These are single photos, not stacked. Nikon D850 with Nikkor 70-200 f/2.8 AFS and Nikkor 500 f/4 lenses. Image 1: 2.5 sec f/2.8 ISO 25600 at 186mm at 8:19 PM EST; Image 2: 2 sec f/4 ISO 25600 at 500mm 8:09 PM EST.
