Details:
Been trying for this comet for a few days now, previous attempts have been thwarted by haze and cloud low in the south west, annoyingly the last few evening have been clear overhead just stubborn cloud right where the comet was expected to be!
Yesterday evening it seemed slightly better so my friend and I went for a little drive to somewhere we hoped would give us a good view towards the SW.
It started to get a bit misty, again that only seemed to affect the horizon, overhead was nice and clear (Bortle 4.9 sky) and where the comet was was affected by light pollution from Southampton.
We were scanning in the right area with our binoculars, I had my 15x70s, neither of use could see it visually with the binoculars but we did get it on camera, a rather faint greenish smudge. Despite not seeing it visually I still claim it as my 28th comet and am hopeful as it climbs a little higher it might be easier to see with binoculars.
We also had a look at C/2025 A6 Lemmon which was much easier to spot with binoculars and still brightening so I am looking forward to some more imaging sessions with that.
That was the first time I have ever observed 2 comets in one night.
I have not seen any other images of C/2025 R2 SWAN from the UK yet so maybe we are the first Brits to see it!
A single unguided 4 second exposure at ISO 1600 with a Canon 70D and Sigma 105mm macro lens at F/2.8
