Saw these clouds over an hour before sunrise on my way to work in Northern Virginia (39N lat). They did not move or dissipate throughout my commute. It's almost exactly one year since I saw brilliant red auroras in Shenandoah Park an hour west. In both cases, I'd never seen anything like them, except in photos on this website!
