Details:
After reading that comet 3I/ATLAS is particularly rich in CO2, we photographed the comet on August 28 using a blue filter. This had already proven very successful with comet C/2016 R2, which had a similar composition. In the 16x100-second image, we were able to detect a 48“ long tail that is relatively high in contrast for the first 25”. The coma in the blue filter image had a maximum extent of 22". The brightness in blue was 15m7. 3I/ATLAS 2025-08-28 18.23 UT 16x100sec filter blue 12"/3.6 Asi 6200 Farm Tivoli, Namibia Gerald Rhemann, Michael Jäger
