Details:
In the evening on Sunday 24th August, the very young (34 hrs old) 2% illuminated waxing crescent Moon was photographed descending and setting in heat hazed volcanic sunset sky above Murahwa Mountain to the west of Mutare between 6 and 6.30 pm. This made the thin Moon difficult to see both early in bright conditions and late in low light when a final sequence of 9 images of the Moon disappearing behind the summit of the mountain was captured. The latter required time-consuming and intensive post-processing to enhance visibility of the Moon which could no longer be seen with the naked eye! Camera: Tripod-mounted Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS40 in sunset and manual exposure modes.
