Details:
Comet 48P/Johnson on 2025 July 26 showed an elliptical coma 1' long by 0.5' wide with a tail 2' long at a position angle of 248 degrees from the comet's coma. The comet was magnitude 15.7. A rather strange appearance for the comet but probably explained by the geometry of the comet as seen from Earth on this date, TBD. Click on the larger image to get the best resolution image.
